Alien League:
Very, very thin font. Interesting for a line, not so great for only a word or a block of text. Looks a bit like a bar code.
Examples: x
Corabael:
Great for a word here and there, definitely not for a lot text. Great y’s and f’s, but it doesn’t have punctuation marks.
Examples: x x xCourier New:
Loos great, but not always easy to use as it gets pixellated very fast and I almost always need a double layer for it to be readable. Not very good for small text, but it can be a fun font.
Examples: x x x xElephant:
Not very special but still a little different than other fonts. Not always very readable. Broadway is also a good alternative for this.
Examples: x xFangtasia:
Very swirly with the t’s, fun to use for a couple of words.
Examples: x xFolks (Bold):
Can be used for a lot of text, but not very interesting to play with size/italics/upper-and lowercase etc in one graphic because it starts to look messy.
Examples: x xFrail:
Bit of a weird font. Not always useable, but it can look cool.
Examples: x xFutura:
Rounder than Futura LT Condensed, but very readable and good for lots of text.
Examples: x x x x x x x xFutura LT Condensed:
FAVORITE. I use it so much :D Especially on gifs. The letters are thin, so you can put a lot of words in one line, it’s vey readable and playing with size, uppercase/lowercase, italics, space between your letters, etc. makes it look very different.
Examples: x x x x x x x x x xGeorgia / Times New Roman (probably on your computer already):
Oldies but goodies. I personally don’t really see much difference between them, to be honest :D But you can use them for a block of text, you can use them in all-capslock, and they’re really great when you want to change up the size of your words. Playing with the space between the letters can give a different look as well.
Examples: x x x x x x x x xKaty Berry:
Cute swirly font. Hearts instead of dots, so not something to put on everything.
Examples: x xPTF Nordic Rnd:
A bit on the boring side, but very readable and useable.
Examples: x xPea Lyndal:
Very cool y’s, t’s and j’s. Not always very readable and takes some fitting when you have more than a couple words, but can look very cool.
Examples: x xPea Mee-Mee:
Fun and swirly, good for a couple words but definitely not for a block of text.
Examples: xPump Demi Bold:
Fun and readable. I really like this one in italic.
Examples: x x xRockwell:
Similar to Courier New, but easier to use as it’s thicker..
Examples: x

Theme/Page Editing/Installation Tutorial »
Hello there! So I’ve decided to make a tutorial on how to install common pages and themes, along with a few extra notes. The following tutorial covers: [updated: 03/02/13]
- installing a theme (pastebin)
- installing themes from theme garden
- how to create/edit a page
- installing custom pages
- installing redirect themes
- editing about pages
- editing tag pages
- linking your pages
Of course, it’s not a full tutorial, and I’ll be improving/updating it whenever I can. I hope this helps!
Recently, most of the theme makers are using different kinds of filters to give different styles to their themes or their own blogs. How many themes have the option for Grayscale Photos and Photosets, right? Other theme makers use the Blurfilter to make a cool effect, also. So I’d like to present all the properties WebKit filters can offer.
- Grayscale
Most theme makers are using it now to make more monochrome themes. But if you’d like so,you can make a balance of it:Instead of only colors or grayscale, you can make the photos “kind of” grayscale, just by using .5 or .3 instead of only 0 or 1.- Blur
Another filter frenquently used, makes your layout more unique. On this case, you won’t use just 1 or 6, you must put px after the value. For example: blur(2px).- Sepia
Just like the name says, this filter allows you to give the photos a old look. To use it, you just have to put values like the ones on the grayscale filter.- Saturate
This one is not really used much with CSS, but those who make graphics probably understands what it means. On this one, you use numbers like 2 or 4 to increase the saturation.- Opacity
All kinds of themes use this filter, this allows you to make the elements more transparent so you can see what’s behind it, or even make hidden elements. Like grayscale, you’ll use values from 0 to 1.- Brightness
Also, like the name says, this filter allows you to make the brightness of a image or anything else more intense. Also uses values from 0 to 1.- Contrast
This one now allows you to give your elements a normal or intense contrast. It may be a interesting filter to make more colorful themes. Values variate from 0 to 1.- Hue-rotate
Another exception, instead of 0 to 1,you can use a whole number, but using the deg unit, like this: hue-rotate(120deg). This one allows you,how you can see, to rotate elements, making different effects and forms for your themes.- Invert
Another interesting effect,it inverts the color scheme of your photos. Most cellphone cameras these days have this effect too. Also use it with values from 0 to 1.How can I use it?
All these filters can be really useful to create various effects, but how to use it?
After creating the element you’d like to customize with these filters, add on the bolded part:.example_box { background-color:white; width:30px; height:30px; -webkit-filter:blur(2px) grayscale(.5) saturate(6); } ;
You can substitute the italic parts for the filters and values you’d like to use, since this was just an example. So,basically,you have this :-webkit-filter: filter name(value);
If you still can’t understand what I mean, you can acess this site: davidwalsh, that explains the properties.
NOTE:These are WebKit Filters. It won’t work on all browsers. I’d highly recommend you to use Chrome.
In case you’d like to use the grayscale filter, many theme makers have a cross-browser code for it on their blogs. Just look at their resources!
Hey guys, I’m still alive! Haha!
I’ve finally finished my first year of Grad School (finished like three days ago, YAY) and now it’s summer and I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and being a more active theme maker! Sorry it’s taken me so long to get back on here >_< Thank you for all of the amazing new follows I’ve gotten and for everyone who has stuck around while I’ve been off burying my face in design books and assignments and projects and soooo much work… OTL
I hope you all are doing well! <3333
